Question: Will this product work fishing for large shovelheads
Answer: I was catching so many fish that I had to extend my vacation...... Yes! You just cast out your line, set the automatic fishing and you can now relax and enjoy the view as like a mouse trap, when you get a good bite the automatic fishing will then be tripped, releasing the tip of you fishing pole that then snaps upwards setting the hook and then the fun begins. Shoring or boating the fish is now up to you. Then you reset and repeat.. As long as there are fish, you're catching them. You'll make others jealous as I do..

Question: Is this only for fresh water fishing? Or can be used for both salt water and fresh water fish?
Answer: I live in a on the eastern slope of the Rockies so i cant really say for salt water. But i did paint it with rustoleum to coat from rusting during the winter season.
Now the dual spring is extremely too strong for most of the fish here. So i take one off when fishing most of the lakes for trout. Now for the catfish, pike, and 4.5+ lb trout, dual springs work and sets the hook nicely. So i dont see a reason why it wouldn't for some beachfront salt water fishing.
My only concern for you is the spikes are thin and not that long so spiking ot on the beach may be a problem. Some have complained that their weld snapped also. I guess i got lucky because my dad and i have not had any problems yet. If it does snap, we'll just reweld it.
Otherwise, corrode-proof like i did and you should be good to go.

Question: How do you adjust sensitivity? Mine is so sensitive a tadpole could trigger it, making it useless for fishing flowing water
Answer: You might try using stronger springs.

Question: can you use a bat casting rod with these?
Answer: Yes. Problem is that the hook setter is not sensitive enough. I literally had a large mouth bass take my line and was jumping out of the water with violent head shake. Pole holder never did pop up. Bass has escaped by the time I got to pole.
